WHAT A BEAST THIS WAS TO KNIT!!!
AS YOU CAN SEE, I FINALLY COMPLETED WHAT I AM CALLING MY "COLLEEN SWEATER" AND GAVE AS A GIFT TO MY DEAR FRIEND ON SUNDAY AT HER BABY SHOWER. WITH THE SLEEVES, BUTTONS, AND LABEL LEFT TO DO, I AWAKENED AT 7 AM THE MORNING OF THE SHOWER AND WORKED LIKE A MANIAC TO COMPLETE THAT LITTLE BEAST!!! DONE WITH IT BY 10:30 WITH TIME TO MAKE A CARD FOR HER!
WHEW! TALK ABOUT YOUR DEADLINE PRESSURE!!
HAD SO MUCH FUN AT SHOWER I DIDN'T KNIT A STITCH THE WHOLE TIME!
HOWEVER, I AM NOT FINISHED, AS I MUST COMPLETE A BABY BLANKET, HAT AND BOOTIES FOR THE END OF SEPTEMBER TO MATCH THIS SWEATER.
A LITTLE BREAK FOR ME RIGHT NOW IS TO KNIT LITTLE SOCKS BOOKMARKERS FROM WWW.PTYARN.COM. I ONLY NEED TO MAKE 10 PAIRS PER REQUEST OF MY BELOVED MOTHER-IN-LAW BECKY, WHO NEEDS GIFTS TO GIVE.
I THINK I'LL WORK ON "SONNY" TODAY, AND MAYBE FINISH HIS FACE.
AFTER THIS, WHO KNOWS WHAT I WILL DECIDE TO KNIT FROM MY LONG LIST OF PROJECTS.

OH HAPPY DAY! IT'S BEEN A BUSY WEEK SO FAR AND MUST PLAY CATCH UP ON MY KNITTING
BASIC TOP DOWN REGLAN CARDI IN STOCKINETTE WITH 4 STITCH GARTER BORDER TIL YOU GET TO THE ARMPIT/SLEEVE BEGINNING. BOY! DID I EVER GET A KNITTER'S BLOCK HERE!!!!
I HAD TO DO A FAIR AMOUNT OF SKETCHING AND FROGGING TILL I FINALLY COMMITTED TO A ONE ROW PURL ROW BREAK BEFORE BEGINNING FEATHER AND FAN DESIGN. I THINK I WILL GET QUICKER RESULTS AS ONLY ONE OF THE 4 ROWS HAS THE LACE STITCHES IN IT, SO ITS PRETTY EASY TO KNIT. HOPE THERE'S TIME FOR A HAT AND BOOTIES!!
WHAT ELSE I DID PAST WEEK IN THE WORLD OF KNITTING.....
HAD A TREMENDOUSLY GOOD TIME LAUGHING AND STICKING MY FINGERS AT THE SATURDAY MORNING NEEDLE FELTING CLASS AT KRAEMER YARN SHOP IN NAZARETH, PA. MADE A SUN WALL HANGER, WHICH TOOK FROM 10 AM TO 4 PM TO GET 75% COMPLETE. NO TWO WERE ALIKE. "SONNY"
SITS ON MY HUMIDIFIER BEGGING TO BE FINISHED, BUT I'M IGNORING HIM TILL I FINISH THE BABY SWEATER.
FINISHED AND PRESENTED SET OF FOUR DISHCLOTHS TO A FRIEND/CO-WORKER, DEB, WHO RECENTLY REMODELED HER KITCHEN AND WAS HAPPY THAT SHE WAS HAPPY WITH GIFT. STILL HAVE TO FINISH SET FOR MY LOVELY NEIGHBOR, EDNA, WHO TUTORS MY SON IN READING, AND MAKE ANOTHER SET FOR ANOTHER FRIEND/CO-WORKER SANDY- SAGE, YELLOW AND WHITE KITCHEN, LEST I FORGET! I LOVE THE PEACHES AND CREAM/ SUGAR AND CREAM COTTON FOR THIS STUFF.
MAILED MY GIFT PACKAGE TO MY AMPLE KNITTERS SECRET PAL. GETTING ANOTHER GIFT PACKAGE READY FOR SEPTEMBER'S FINAL MAILING TO HER, AFTER WHICH THE GROUP WILL BE ASSIGNED NEW PALS FOR NEXT 3 MONTHS.
THAT'S THE LAST STITCH FOR NOW!!

so i decided yesterday to organize yarn stash and prioritize knitting projects to reflect wants- and- needs- to- be- knit this fall/winter.
OMIGOD!
i have reached S.A.B.L.E.(stash accumulation beyond life expectancy). MUSTNOTBUYYARNMUSTNOTBUYYARNMUSTNOTBUYYARN...
it's time to call a moratorium on yarn purchases and begin to knit a dent in this stash o'mine!
it's not like i don't have the projects lined up:
einstein jacket.
husband sweater.
son sweater.
harry potter scarf, hat, sox, and bookmarker.
baby sweater- DUE IN 2 WEEKS!!
sock book markers for christmas presents.
p-shawl IN LUSCIOUS mohair/wool blend from wellington fibers purchased at stitches east last year.
felted door mitten with mauch chunky wool
harriet bag
market bag
felted flower pins
dish cloths
bartlett yarn sweaters for me -one in midnight blue and another in coral
slipper sox
something for secret santa at work
warm things for FRIENDS OF PINE RIDGE RESERVATION
CHURCH CHRISTMAS BAZAAR
oh-and let's not forget my TAPESTRY JACKET begun 2 YEARS AGO
at my favorite yarn shop
www.kraemeryarnshop.com .
love the people, love the wednesday class, love the yarn and patterns!
their line of kraemer yarns are a joy to knit with, especially the TATAMY TWEED COTTEN FOR SOCKS. (mustnotbuyyarn-sigh!)
no affiliation-just extremely happy customer!
by the way-notice how the list is not prioritized.
baby sweater is to be made with yellow EURO YARNS CUDDLY FLUFF DK WT. (ACRYLIC/MOHAIR BLEND)
i will probably improvise something from LEANNE BENNETT'S THE PORTABLE CRAFTER KNITTING.
it's a great little book full of very do-able little and big projects simply written.
i have already made several versions of THE BASIC BABY SWEATER with great results.
just get your stitch pattern books out or go to an online stitch pattern library for inspiration.
meanwhile, i have been making stitch markers, inspired by the beautiful set received from my AMPLE KNITTERS SECRET PAL-what a sweetie too!
my PAL sent me some lovely yarn, a novel, peanut squares, a butterfly magnet, 2 felted tote bag patterns, and a lovely letter.
i'm having alot of fun sending to MY OTHER PAL. ssssssssssshhhhhhh!
don't tell her!!!!!
well, as soon as i can figure out how to put photos on my blog i will have more to say, none of it profound, just knitting based.
